Led by two longtime employees, we arrived at the former site of the Hefeng Spinning Mill, a factory founded in 1905 with a rich and storied history. The Hefeng Spinning Mill stands as a pivotal legacy in the annals of Ningbo’s—and indeed China’s—textile industry, and was one of the “three-and-a-half chimneys” that came to symbolize pre‑liberation industrial development. Though the chimneys are long gone, the original factory buildings and office wing remain imposing and impressive. As we walked, we took in the sights and listened to the stories; even though the layout has been completely reimagined, the memories of the “old Weike people” endure. They recalled, pointing out, “This used to be Zhejiang Needle, over there was the director’s office, and on the other side was the Renfeng workshop.” It was as if we could see once again the scene of textile workers striving here years ago, and the vibrant prosperity of the industry.

The old factory, the old bricks, the old railway tracks—they have weathered the smoke of war and endured a century of profound change, surely accumulating countless stories and cherished memories for generations of “old Weike people”!

The two “veteran Weike alumni” recounted the journey from the Hefeng Yarn Mill to the founding of the Weike Group, giving us, as new members of the Weike family, a fresh understanding of the company and filling us with pride in being part of it.
We, the “New Weike people,” will surely continue to strive and dedicate our youth and energy to the development of Weike.
